Fulton County Police Shift Change

Switch to 8-Hour Shifts Increases Number of FCPD Officers on Street

Beginning May 3, Fulton County Police switched from scheduling officers for 12-hour shifts to 8-hour shifts. The change, decided upon before Mayor & Council were elected, puts more officers on the street; and ensures those officers are well-rested to respond to calls.

This number of officers on patrol, and the overall staffing levels of Fulton County Police, is still below targets proposed by South Fulton’s City Council, which aims to transfer control of the police department to the city before the end of the year.
